Shawn B –
I purchased this barrel due to the combined features that other manufacturers only had 1 or 2 of. First Nickel Boron Barrel Extension is simply an amazing idea. Combined with a NiB BCG and you’ll likely never see any problems or malfunctions. Second is the “Nitride”/”Melonite” coating. Do your research and you will find a chrome lined barrel are actually cut larger than spec, then a thin layer of chrome is applied to build it back up to spec. When this added chrome is applied it is wavy and uneven, which negatively affects accuracy, but improves wear resistance. THIS barrel, is Nitride treated which means the bore is cut to spec, then the nitride process changes the top layers of the steel making it harder and more wear resistant than chrome with no induced imperfections. Third, the mid-length gas system. The original way to measure pressure inside of barrels was using copper plugs, now we use digital transducers. The original gas system was carbine length, today’s research tells us that mid-length systems are better suited for dwell time, and pressure curves creating a smoother operating rifle in most cases. This barrel has everything you are looking for if you want the best combination of all the newest technologies available in one package!
